UESI Kerala’s 3rd State Conf., a once-in-a-decade event of students, graduates and staff, began with the theme song & a prayer by Prof. P. P. Thomas on 26 Dec. ’09 at Believers Church Theological Seminary, Thiruvalla. This conf. aimed to look back & recollect God’s faithfulness, to look up & contemplate on God’s Word, to look within & evaluate, and to look ahead & rededicate.

The opening ceremony graced by the presence of UESI President, Mr J. S. A Julius and Senior Graduates was presided over by Mr Varghese John, President of UESI-Kerala. The Most. Rev. Dr C. V. Mathew emphasized the call of God to have intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and to go as commissioned into the world.

 

 

First day: Celebration Service started with the torch bearing procession led by UESI- Kerala pioneers.

The torch lit and carried by Ms J. Danabai, the Senior-most among pioneers, was relayed on to others who gave leadership to the ministry from 1960 to 2009 and finally the student representatives in the present Executive and in turn to all student delegates. ‘Great is Thy faithfulness’ reverberated God’s faithfulness in the ministry. The students’ excitement was the evidence of their profound allegiance to UESI.

 

Mr Mathew Varghese and Mr Raaj Mondol delivered God’s counsel to the UESI - Kerala constituency through Bible Expositions & Evening Devotions on the theme “In Christ, Into The World.” Both of them reiterated the fact that Christ is the Lord and He is in control. Our Lord can revive us and the ministry, and He will; but we need to seek Him with all our heart and will. Second day: Mr Jose Thomas started it with inspired worship. The offertory, Rs 16577 was dedicated as the seed fund for the pioneering work in North Kerala. Mr Mathew Varghese, Mr Raaj Mondol & Mr J.S.A. Julius handled seminars for students, young graduates and senior graduates respectively. Mr P.C. Varghese and Mr Jacob Samuel presented interactive sessions on History of UESI-Kerala & Ministry Evaluation. Mr K. V. Christudas, Sec’y, UESI Kerala, challenged to focus on ‘Back to the Basics’ in his presentation on Vision 2020.

Melodious singing sessions, exclusive session for the students, Field ministry presentations by different regions and time set apart for intercessory prayers were other major highlights of the conference.

 

 

Last day: State Secretary designate, Mr George K. Mathew was dedicated in the presence of present and all former State Secretaries. Followed by the closing message participants rededicated themselves and took oath by affirming; “We will build the core values, pray fervently, and work tirelessly to realize our vision for UESI Kerala by 2020 in serving the Church and society.”

 

Around 600 delegates participated in the conference. God provided conference expenses of Rs 6 lacs and surplus Rs 70,000. The conference proceedings concluded on 28 Dec. ’09 evening with the benediction from the Rev. Itty Mathew. Glory be to God!
